The Unity Of The 7 Spirits Of God

In the book of Revelation, the Apostle John mentions the “Seven Spirits of God” (Revelation 1:4, 3:1, 4:5, 5:6). For the moment, we will ignore the individual identities of these Seven Spirits, and only consider their collective unity.

In considering the unity of the 7 Spirits of God, we need look no further than the collective symbols of the 7 Spirits: the 7 days of creation (Genesis 1:1-2:3), the rainbow (Genesis 9:13-17), the 7-branched menorah (Exodus 25:31-40), the 7 eyes on the rock (Zechariah 3:9) and the Lamb (Revelation 5:6), the seven lamp stands (Revelation 1:12), the 7 churches (Revelation 2:1-3:22), the 7 stars (Revelation 1:20), the 7 seals (Revelation 5:1), the 7 horns on the Lamb (Revelation 5:6), the 7 thunders (Revelation 10:3), etc. Even when such a symbol has a particular reference to a particular member of the 7 Spirits of God, they are always presented without preference or rank. Each of the 7 Spirits has the exact same influence on the Godhead as does any of the other 6 Spirits. It is always all or nothing. There is no compromise; there is no dominance, just complete unity.

It should be noted that the spirit of compromise is NOT found within God. The Trinity and the 7 Spirits act in total unity, or they do not act at all!

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9, NKJV)

As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven; (Psalm 18:30, NKJV)

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (James 1:17, NKJV)

It is interesting to note that our governments deliberately work to have odd numbers of members on their governing bodies, or else very large numbers of members so that a definite majority can be attained. A super-majority is one where at least two-thirds the members vote a particular way. Our whole world lives by continually seeking compromise, but not the Lord:

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5, NKJV)

If we ever expect to receive the blessings the Lord has promised us, we must learn to live and act in complete and total agreement and unity with the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), and the 7 Spirits of God. If we attempt to force the Lord to compromise Himself, He will never act on our behalf except out of mercy for us, and probably in a far different way than we had requested.

You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. …

“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:2-6, NKJV)

We can only receive good things from the Lord when we ask, in complete humility, according to His will. As Jesus prayed for us:

“I … pray … that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us” (John 17:20-21, NKJV)

If we desire to receive good things from the Lord, we must enter into the unity that exists within the Trinity and the Seven Spirits of God: God will NEVER compromise Himself, and asking Him to will only lead to frustration. God is God, and we are not. Either we will agree with the Lord God, or we can expect to receive NOTHING from Him.

How Does the Lord Act in Relation to the 7 Spirits?

Each of the 7 Spirits of God has a definite name and exerts a particular and infinite influence on the very nature of God Himself, but how do the 7 Spirits influence the actions of the Lord God?

Probably the best way to answer this question is to examine an incident in Scripture where there would be a potential discrepancy between the influences of the 7 Spirits:

Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.

So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

She said, “No one, Lord.”

And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” (John 8:2-11, NKJV)

Here, we have many problems simultaneously, but we will only consider the choice the scribes and Pharisees were trying to force: which is more important - Love or Holiness?

The Law on Moses is very clear on the consequences of this question: “the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.” (Lev 20:10, NKJV) The Spirit of Holiness requires absolute perfect obedience in thought and action, while the Spirit of Love offers generosity to all. In fact, it is this very juxtaposition that leads to the whole plan of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ.

The scribes and Pharisees weren’t at all concerned about the problems of this situation, in fact they created them so that Jesus would be forced to make a choice that they could take advantage of: if Jesus forgave her and set her free, they would condemn Him for not being holy and righteous and fulfilling the Law. If Jesus chose to have the woman condemned, they would proclaim Him a hypocrite and destroy His ministry.

You see, in the kingdom of Satan, everything is based on power and compromise: one either overpowers his detractors and proclaims himself victorious, or he comes to some agreement with his opponents where each gains a little and each looses a little. However, this is NOT the way the Lord operates.

Yes, Holiness demands eternal punishment and Love demands mercy - simultaneously! So the Spirit of Wisdom provides the solution: establish the veracity of the Law by the Spirits of Truth and Prophecy, wait in Faith for the Word of God to fully act, and then bestow Life. Thus both Love and Holiness are vindicated at the same time, ultimately by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

The Lord could have simply destroyed all that He had made when Adam sinned, and He would been completely vindicated and justified, but for the sake of Love He chose salvation at His own great expense so that He could provide Life to all who could receive it through Faith and Prophecy without in any way compromising the Spirits of Holiness, Truth, and Wisdom

Who Are The Seven Spirits Of God With Jon Straumfjord

Who are the 7 Spirits of God?

The 7 Spirits and the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) act in complete
unity with neither preference nor compromise. If we hope to obtain anything
from the Lord we must approach Him in complete agreement and unity with His
very nature, and since the 7 Spirits comprise the very nature of God Himself,
we must approach Him in complete unity with the 7 Spirits of God. But Who
are the 7 Spirits of God? Before we can answer the question of Who They are,
we are unfortunately forced to first answer the question of Who They are not.
Some people have taken Isaiah 11:1-2 as being the one verse in the Bible that
talks about the identity of the 7 Spirits of God:

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow
out of his roots.

The *Spirit of the LORD* shall rest upon Him,

The *Spirit of wisdom* and *understanding*,

The *Spirit of counsel* and *might*,

The *Spirit of knowledge* and of the *fear of the LORD*.

(NKJV)If we look carefully at this passage we notice first of all that one
of these Spirits is called "The Spirit of the LORD," however by definition
each of these would be spirits of the Lord. Second, wisdom, understanding and
counsel are all basically the same thing, so the best we could possibly obtain
from this passage is four spirits, not seven. Lastly, the passage is basically
talking about a single Spirit that would rest upon Jesus Christ, namely the
Holy Spirit, which is exactly what this passage is really talking about. It doesn't discuss the Seven
Spirits of God at all!

So Who are the Sven Spirits of God? They are:

the *Spirit of Life* (Romans 8:2),

the *Spirit of Truth* (John 15:26),

the *Spirit of Wisdom*(Ephesians 1:17),

The *Spirit of Holiness* (Romans 1:4),

*Spirit of Faith* (2 Corinthians 4:13),

*Spirit of Love* (1 John 4:8),

*Spirit of Prophecy* (Revelations 19:10).

The other two Spirits mentioned in Scripture are the Spirit of Glory
(1 Peter 4:14) which refers to the 7 Spiritsof God collectively, and
the Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:29) which refers to the Holy Spirit.
Each of the Seven Spirits is infinite in Her scope: infinite *Life*
(hence the need for eternal residences: Heaven or Hell), infinite *Truth*
more than could ever be known by all the created beings throughout all
time and space put together), infinite *Wisdom* (complete omniscience:
there is at least one solution to every problem or question), infinite
*Holiness* (there is only one perfect attitude and action for every
situation that is ultimately acceptable), infinite *Love* (everyone is
ultimately on the Lord's heart in every second of every day of every year
of every millennium, and He continually seeks the well-being of every
individual without compromising any other individuals), infinite *Faith*
(everything is possible), and infinite *Prophecy* (the Lord is always
seeking to communicate with everyone at all times). These seven infinite
Spirits collectively comprise the very nature and character of the Lord
God simultaneously. If you can begin to grasp the sum total of the infinite
influences of these Seven Spirits, you have a glimpse into the character
of the living God. If you find these concepts difficult, or even impossible
to grasp, remember that God is infinite, and you are not. Each of us,
and even all mankind put together, are finite in nature. The finite will never
fully comprehend the infinite. It is absolutely impossible. However,
the more we do comprehend and apprehend of the full nature of God Himself,
the better we can relate to

Him and obtain the blessings we desire.
